What grades does the Primary School cover? +

Ambleside Primary School covers Grades 1 to 7 — a complete primary school education. Children move seamlessly from our Preschool — Acorns programme (Grades 000–R) into the Primary School, maintaining continuity of approach and community.

How big are the classes? +

We keep classes deliberately small — this is a core conviction, not just a selling point. Small classes are what makes genuine teacher-student relationships possible, and those relationships are what makes the Charlotte Mason approach work. Please contact us for current enrolment numbers.

Is Ambleside a Christian school? +

Yes. Ambleside Durban North is Christ-centred. Bible is taught as part of the curriculum, and our values — honesty, kindness, diligence, courage — are rooted in a Christian worldview. We are warmly welcoming to families from all backgrounds who appreciate this ethos.

Do you follow the CAPS curriculum? +

We are a registered independent school and follow the Charlotte Mason approach through the Ambleside Schools International curriculum framework. This is a rigorous, broad curriculum — our students are very well-prepared for mainstream high school. We do not teach to CAPS, but our graduates consistently thrive in the high schools they attend.

What are the school hours? +

School hours are Monday to Thursday, 07:45 to 14:00, and Friday, 07:45 to 13:30. Aftercare is available until 17:30 at R1,900 per term or R70 per day.

How do I apply? +

The first step is to book a school visit — we'd love to show you around and answer your questions in person. After that, we'll walk you through the application process. See our How to Apply page for the full four-step process.
