The Thursday Enrichment Programme is our way of opening our doors to the homeschool community. Not to convince you to change what’s working — but to offer something that’s genuinely hard to replicate at home: peer community, specialist-led subjects, and the particular joy that comes from learning alongside others.
Come for a Thursday — no commitment, no pressure, just a warm door open.

Every Thursday session follows the same warm rhythm — three activities that are genuinely difficult to do well alone at home, but come alive in community.
Children head outdoors with notebooks in hand — observing, sketching, and recording what they find. Charlotte Mason believed careful attention to the natural world was the foundation of all good scientific thinking, and we take that seriously. No two Thursdays look the same.
We spend unhurried time with a single composer — listening carefully, talking about what we hear, and learning to receive music as something meaningful. This term we are getting to know a composer whose work rewards slow, attentive listening. No prior musical experience needed.
Every session includes unhurried time for children to play freely together — different ages, different personalities, all in one space. There is something genuinely good about children learning to navigate the world alongside peers, and we protect that time every Thursday. It is often the part they talk about longest on the way home.
Whether you’ve been homeschooling for one year or seven, whether you’re thriving or wondering what comes next — this programme is for you. It’s a space to connect, to enrich, and to explore whether Ambleside might be a community worth knowing better. There is no pressure. Just a warm door, open on Thursdays.
